From Nov 25th – Dec 10th, we will be regularly spotlighting films by female filmmakers and storytellers whose films depict violence against women.

Here’s the three films we we are spotlighting today

A VIGILANTE (2019) Dir Sarah Daggar-Nickson

Olivia Wilde stars as an abuse victim who dedicates her life to ridding others of their domestic abusers, all while looking for her own abusive husband. Drama.

Olivia Wilde gives a defining and captivating performance in what critics are hailing the most important film of the year. A once abused woman, Sadie (Olivia Wilde: Life Itself), devotes herself to ridding victims of their domestic abusers, while hunting down the husband she must kill to truly be free. Co-starring C.J. Wilson (The Sinner) and Morgan Spector (Homeland) this is a compelling, gritty and highly enthralling revenge thriller with a powerful message.Olivia Wilde gives a defining and captivating performance in what critics are hailing the most important film of the year. BERLIN SYNDROME (2017) Dir Cate Shortland

A passionate holiday romance leads to an obsessive relationship when an Australian photojournalist wakes one morning in a Berlin apartment and is unable to leave.

While holidaying in Berlin, Australian photographer, Clare meets Andi, a charismatic local man and there is an instant attraction between them. A night of passion ensues. But what initially appears to be the start of a romance, takes an unexpected and sinister turn when Clare wakes the following morning to discover Andi has left for work and locked her in his apartment. An easy mistake to make, of course, except Andi has no intention of letting her go again. Ever.

COMPLIANCE (2012) Based on the true event of a female fast food employee

A darkly disturbing American thriller based on true events (one of 70 similar occurrences across 30 states) that took place at an Ohio diner that led to the sexual abuse of an 18-year-old employee. Compliance unfolds over a busy day in a fast food restaurant when a prank caller convinces a jobsworth manageress that one of her employees has committed a theft and that she will need to be interrogated. What follows is a shocking and profoundly unnerving glimpse of what can happen when questionable authority remains unchallenged as the manager and her gullible staff and friends are persuaded to participate in the sexual assault of a young woman.

Currently you are able to watch “Compliance” streaming on Amazon Prime Video (n0 subtitles). It is also possible to buy “Compliance” on Apple iTunes, Sky Store, Amazon Video as download or rent it on Apple iTunes, Sky Store, Amazon Video online.
