Passionate about equality, Rachel co-founded Birds Eye View in 2002 as a celebration of female filmmaking talent, a positive response to the fact that only 7% film directors were women. She spent the next decade developing Birds Eye View as a leading national organisation. During this time, Rachel directed and produced nine international film festivals celebrating the best new and established women filmmakers from all around the world, and commissioned over 30 female musicians to create new live scores to classic silent films.
Towards the end of her directorship of Birds Eye View, Rachel was selected as a Clore Fellow, embarking on two years of training in cultural leadership, including a placement at The Roundhouse in Camden, focusing on audience consultation & brand development, and an additional course in consultancy skills.
Rachel remains on the board of Birds Eye View as a Trustee, and has recently been offering consultancy in fundraising, income generation and artistic direction to local arts organisations.
