Pride doesn't end with June

Pride doesn't - and shouldn't - end with June šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø

At Reclaim The Frame, we champion filmmakers of all marginalised genders and all sexualities, and we welcome audiences from across the LGBTQIA+ community - all year round.

We strive to ensure everyone feels welcome, respected and able to participate fully at Reclaim The Frame events.

In light of the Supreme Court judgment and the draft EHRC Code of Practice, we want to reaffirm our commitment to gender-diverse filmmakers, audiences and colleagues:

Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary people exist. And all remain an important part of the community that we exist to serve.

Commitment matters, so does action.

So here are just some of the ways we're continuing to show up for our trans and non-binary filmmakers, audience members and colleagues, and a reminder, as ever, to support the work of community-led collectives working for inclusive cinema.

šŸ¤ First, our Beyond the Binary project continues: a series of industry conversations about advancing trans allyship in the film sector, held in partnership with BFI Inclusion and Women & Hollywood. Later this year we'll be publishing a report and sharing our learnings and recommendations so far as part of our next Beyond the Binary event. More news on this in the coming weeks and months. Join our mailing list.

✊ Second, we are members of Third Sector Against Transphobia. For fellow charities across all sectors wanting to get involved, you can find out more here.

šŸ‘ Third, we continue to work with cinemas, venues and other industry organisations across the UK and beyond, sharing advice and supporting more inclusive practices. If your organisation would like to get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.

šŸ“½ļø To find out more about, and to champion, the work of our trans and non-binary peers in cinema, we highly recommend the work of:

And we urge you to seek out trans stories and support community-led screenings, events and film festivals, post-Pride and all year round, wherever you are.

āœ With only a few days left to respond to the consultation and support efforts challenging the draft EHRC Code, information and templates are available viaĀ TransActual.

To everyone who has been affected by recent developments around trans rights, please know you are valued, and deserving of dignity, respect and safety.

We want and need your stories, your creativity and your voices. Now, more than ever, those stories deserve to be seen, heard and celebrated on screen.

With love & solidarity,

Melanie, the team and trustees of Reclaim The Frame
