Birds Eye View and Women and Hollywood join forces for this special screening and panel on Battle of The Sexes starring Emma Stone and Steve Carrell by the acclaimed filmmakers behind Little Miss Sunshine.
After the screening, we will have a lively discussion on the film and its themes: Mia Bays the Oscar winning twice BAFTA nominated producer and director of Birds Eye View will be joined by Melissa Silverstein Founder/Publisher Women and Hollywood, Co-Founder/Artistic Director – Athena Film Festival, and Anna Smith, a leading film critic, broadcaster, and president of the UK Critics’ Circle and a regular film critic for BBC News, Sky News, BBC Radio, Metro, The Guardian and Time Out, and Jessie Macneil-Brown from the Tower Hamlets branch of The Women’s Equality Party.
We are thrilled to welcome Melissa Silverstein to the UK for this one-off event – she’s been at the forefront of the fight for gender equality in Hollywood for many years
“The 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs became the most watched televised sports event of all time. Trapped in the media glare, King and Riggs were on opposites sides of a binary argument, but off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles. With her husband urging her to fight for equal pay, the private King was also struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, while Riggs gambled his legacy and reputation in a bid to relive the glories of his past.”
Birds Eye View’s mission is to bring ever greater audiences to films by women and to spotlight the women who make and release them.
Women And Hollywood Educates, Advocates, and Agitates for greater gender diversity in Hollywood and the global film industry.
