TO CELEBRATE WORLD POETRY DAY, we will be watching THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER Directed by Sara Colange

THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER Directed by Sara Colangelo Lisa Spinelli (Maggie Gyllenhaal) is an unfulfilled Staten Island kindergarten teacher and aspiring poet. When she discovers one of  her five-year-old charges has a gift for poetry it sends her into a downward spiral of obsession. The film rightly sits on the shoulders of Gyllenhaal’s towering performance, which finds a lot of depth in-between the lines opening up an interesting discussion as to how far a child’s talent should be nurtured. Solid support comes from Gael García Bernal as Lisa’s poetry teacher, and Parker Sevak as the intriguing prodigy. Based on the Israeli film The Kindergarten Teacher. Click HERE for where to watch
