Cannes Film Festival
Congratulations to British writer/director Molly Manning Walker on her debut rite-of-passage feature How To Have Sex which took Cannes by storm, first with an 8 minute standing ovation, then winning the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section at this year's Cannes Film Festival. This year, 20 films were selected, including 8 debut films and 6 by women directors. Manning Walker graduated from the NFTS with an MA in Cinematography. Her 2020 short film 'Good Thanks, You?' was selected at the International Critics' Week in Cannes. Also, a big shout out to French writer/director Justine Triet and Anatomy Of A Fall winning the Palme d'Or. She is only the third female director to win the Palme since it was founded in 1946, following Ducournau (Titane, 2021) and Jane Campion (The Piano, 1993). Anatomy is Triet's fourth feature and she has been a regular since her fiction debut Age Of Panic featured in 2013’s Acid programme, followed by In Bed With Victoria in Critics’ Week in 2016 and Sibyl, which played in Competition in 2019.
