Join Birds Eye View at this one-off ‘A&Q’ event for the film BEACH RATS by Eliza Hittman, hosted by writer and film critic Sophie Wilkinson who will host a discussion with special guests DESIREE AKHAVAN (director, Appropriate Behaviour) and MATTHEW TODD (ex editor Attitude Mag, writer Straight Jacket) and which will involve the audience’s responses also. On the outskirts of Brooklyn, Frankie, an aimless teenager, suffocates under the oppressive glare cast by his family and a toxic group of delinquent friends. Struggling with his identity, Frankie begins to scour hook-up sites for older men. He starts meeting men at a nearby cruising beach while simultaneously entering into a cautious relationship with a young woman. As Frankie struggles to reconcile his competing desires, his decisions leave him hurtling toward irreparable consequences.
