Join Birds Eye View on 19 September at Picturehouse Central for a screening of the acclaimed Maya Angelou – And Still I Rise followed by a panel discussion.

And Still I Rise is the first film to be made about the incomparable Maya Angelou, her incredible journey and the untold aspects of her life. This intimate and personal portrait is a touching and moving tribute to her legacy.

Weaving her words with rare archival photographs and videos, which paint hidden moments of her exuberant life, the film follows her upbringing in the Depression-era South to her work with Malcolm X in Ghana, as well as her inaugural poem for President Bill Clinton.

Birds Eye View’s ‘A&Q’ format offers the audience a chance to respond afterwards instead of asking questions. Bringing a dynamic context into the room on the film and its subject, we then ask smart guest speakers to respond.
