Saturday 8 March, 8:15PM @ Regent Street Cinema
About The Event
Written and directed by Sandhya Suri (UK/India 2024, 120mins, BBFC: TBC)
A government scheme sees newly widowed Santosh inherit her late husband’s job as a police constable in the rural badlands of Northern India, as her only entitlement to financial support. When a low-caste Dalit girl is found dead, Santosh is pulled into the investigation and into the brutality of the law enforcement system of which she is now a part.
A compelling and powerful thriller exploring casteism, corruption and misogyny in the Indian police force from British-Indian first time feature director Sandhya Suri, with its lead character complexly written and performed.
Introduced by Reclaim The Frame director Melanie Iredale, with a post-screening conversation with filmmaker Sandhya Suri, moderated by Reclaim The Frame’s Head of Audience Engagement Aashna Thakkar.
Reclaim The Frame will be supporting the release of SANTOSH, set to reach UK cinemas on 21 March 2025.
